In a tough economy, finding ways to cut costs on computer software, without having to lose performance, is a great feeling. This feeling is going through everyone using Linux as their operating system (OS).  Having Linux on your computer has many advantages, like: having a 100% free OS, not having to pay for OS updates like PC and Mac users, open source coding, being able to report an issue and know a developer will be working on it (or you can fix it yourself), and being able to save some money on computer software.

Despite these great advantages, there are some disadvantages. The main one being not able to use your favorite applications found only on commercial operating systems. Applications like iTunes, Microsoft Office, Adobe Products, QuickTime, Windows Media Player and other software are lost when switching over to Linux. However, with the loss of your favorite applications, there is a silver lining. Linux has great software options for any of your needs.
